ClassZMinimalism™ + Eco Design Part 1
Actually it should probably be: Eco Design + ClassZMinimalism™.
I have been studying Ken Yeang’s Ecodesign and I now know that we can NO longer continue the way we currently build!
As Ken points out, we as both architects and interior designers MUST begin to practice ALL aspects of ECODESIGN!
So what does that mean?
Ken calls it ECOMIMICRY.
It is defined “as designing architectural ecosystems to emulate the properties, structure, functions and processes of ecosystems of nature. This is necessary because designing for biointegration would be greatly facilitated if our designed system had properties and characteristics similar to those of the ecosystems of nature…Key to an understanding of ecological design and sustainability is the realization that we do not need to invent our human communities and built environments from scratch but that we can model these by imitating nature’s ecosystems…”
